Chemical industry

Formula management, control accuracy, process stability and traceability are essential elements for optimized productivity.

Manual or automated production?

Accurate and traceable execution of formulas

Over the years, Centris Technologies has developed state-of-the-art expertise in batch process control and supervision of chemical processes.

We develop control solutions for complex systems that involve material transfers, quantity controls, resource or equipment controls to manage formulas accurately and completely automated.

We develop tailor-made systems based on recognized methods and solutions. Following that, we remain available to you throughout the life cycle of your system.

Management with or without paper?

Digitization of production management processes – a key issue

Are the robustness, precision and optimization of the use of resources fundamental issues for your company and the systems that enable it to operate?

The guarantee of a quality, reliable, scalable, secure, efficient and suitable management environment becomes a crucial advantage for your operations.

Data integration with your ERP is also an integral part of Centris’ offering.

Achievements

The following customers have seen their operational reality drastically changed by the implementation of modern digital production solutions.

Dunn Edwards

Phoenix (AZ), US

Complete automation project for a new 375,000 square foot paint production plant located in Phoenix (AZ) USA.

Development of the real-time control system SCADA supervision system and management of work orders using MES functions.

The solution also communicates with the SAP ERP to receive the work orders and then return the consumption of raw materials, finished products and all quality parameters.  All production and batch data are automatically documented and logged.

Burford (ON), Canada

Project to upgrade the outdated controls and SCADA of their 75,000 square foot paint plant located in Burford (ON) Canada.

The customer was dealing with an end-of-life “black box” system for which he no longer had technical support. Centris has developed a modern control solution, SCADA and MES, which includes paint production as well as the 12 fill lines of the various complementary products that the factory manufactures.

FAQ’s

Here are some frequently asked questions about software system implementation and automation. If you have any further questions, contact the Centris team.

Generally speaking, Centris can help you identify a manual production process among your operations that could be the subject of an initial deployment for a sum between $15,000 and $35,000, depending on the functions required and the complexity of the process to be controlled. After that, your system will need to evolve within your operations by incorporating other processes over time.

Centris Technologies uses two approaches to technology selection. First, if a technological ecosystem already exists, we will encourage adding components of the same ecosystem. For example, if there are many technologies from Allen-Bradley, Omron or Schneider, we will deploy solutions by making use of these products. However, if you do not have an ecosystem or you do not have a preference, Centris adds Beckhoff, Inductive Automation and PcVue technologies as candidates. In any case, the ideal solution for you will be the one preferred by Centris.

Typically, projects in the automation of chemical production processes pay off in a period of 6 to 24 months because in fact, the return on investment is one of the very important criteria to consider before undertaking a project. It is not the only one, but it is fundamental to many decisions.

It is obviously very variable. For example, a small chemical production plant that converted its manual production to automated production, has committed to a project of nearly $400,000. At the other extreme, the complete “paperless” and “industry 4.0” automation of a brand new plant with more than 120 tanks, 12 production reactors, 1600 automated valves and more than 20 operating stations on the production floor can cost between $1 and $2.5 million. This amount includes real-time control, production supervision and management, integration with ERP and all required hardware.
